Sur - Khor Al batah suspension bridge
connects Sur Town with Al Aija. This will shorten the distance by 10 km to Ras
Al Hadd and Ras Al Jinns. It is a land mark of Architecture.
Stretching over a creek extending inland
from the Khaleej Oman, the suspension bridge also serves as a tourist landmark.
It will also promote social, economic and tourism activities and ease traffic.
It will also ease the movement of
construction material and many other requirements, besides facilitating shopping
and giving easy access to visitors and tourists coming from Muscat via the new
Qurayat-Sur road.
The project started as a study on means
to link the area of Mukha with Al Aijah with an overpass for pedestrians. Later,
the idea was developed into a vehicle carriage way. The 170-metre-long,
120m span, 10-metre-wide and three-tonne weight bridge includes two tracks for vehicles,
two for pedestrians and lighting, rainwater drainage, landscaping and
beautification works.
