Eating cheese 'can boost your immune system'Main Article page | Health page| Fitness articles| Diseases
Scientists claim to have discovered that there's nothing like a nice piece of cheese as it can dramatically boost the immune system. A new study has revealed that a humble slice of cheese eaten every day is particularly beneficial for the elderly for it acts as a carrier for probiotic or "friendly" bacteria, the 'Daily Express' reported. According to the scientists, these micro-organisms are key to the healthy development of body's defences and to the digestion and absorption of food and nutrients. As well as being packed with calcium cheese also has essential nutrients. They claim that cheese is packed with health benefits, containing phosphorous for strong teeth and bones, zinc for healthy skin and fertility, and vitamins for energy. It is also claimed that a cube of cheese eaten after a meal will help neutralise acids in the mouth which can cause tooth decay, the scientists say. |
