The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations under Government of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for engineering and medical entrance examinations to be held on April 18, 19 and 20, for 2011-12 admissions to the following professional degree courses conducted in various colleges in the State.

Medical: MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS and BSMS

B.Sc. agriculture (Hons), B.F.Sc. (fisheries), B.Sc. forestry (Hons)

Veterinary science: B.V.Sc. and animal husbandry

Engineering: B.Tech. degree course in various branches viz. applied electronics and instrumentation, aeronautical, automobile, biomedical, biotechnology, civil, chemical, computer science and engineering, dairy science and technology, electronics and communication, electrical and electronics, electronics and instrumentation, instrumentation and control engineering , IT, Mechanical (automobile), mechanical, mechanical production, polymer engineering, production, printing technology, food technology and agricultural engineering.

Architecture: B.Arch.

The first paper — physics and chemistry — of the engineering entrance test will be held on April 18 from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Paper II — mathematics — will be held on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.

Paper I of the medical entrance test — physics and chemistry — will be held on April 20 from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Paper II — biology — will be held on the same day from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.

The Entrance Commissioner will not conduct any entrance test for admission to B.Arch course.

However, those seeking admission to B.Arch. course should compulsorily appear and qualify the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA).

Eligibility: Both Keralities and non-Keralities are eligible to apply for the entrance examination.

Medical courses

For medical courses, the applicants should have passed Plus Two examination with at least 50 per cent marks in biology /biotechnology and at least 50 per cent marks for physics, chemistry and biology/ biotechnology put together.

Those who wish to take admission to MBBS/ BDS courses should secure at least 50 per cent marks in the medical entrance examination. Applicants should prove their academic eligibility on the date of admission.

B.Sc. degree holders in physics, chemistry, zoology, botany, biotechnology as main and any one or two of these subjects as subsidiaries with at least 50 per cent marks for main and subsidiaries taken together are eligible to apply, provided they have passed the Plus Two examination with physics, chemistry and biology / biotechnology as optional subjects.

For agricultural veterinary courses, the applicants should have passed Plus Two/ equivalent examination with at least 50 per cent marks in biology and 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and biology put together.

B.V.Sc. and AH course

Those who are seeking admission to B.V.Sc. and AH course, in addition to the qualification prescribed above should have passed the qualifying examination with at least 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry, biology and English put together.

For engineering courses, applicants should have passed the qualifying Plus Two examination with at least 50 per cent marks in mathematics separately and at least 50 per cent marks in mathematics, physics and chemistry/ computer science/ biotechnology/ biology put.

Rank-list

The rank-list for engineering courses will be prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks obtained in the entrance examination and the qualifying examination.

The marks secured for mathematics, physics and chemistry/ computer science/ biotechnology/ biology in the second year of the higher secondary / equivalent examination will be added to the marks secured in the entrance examination for preparing rank-list.

The marks of other boards will be considered after effecting the normalization procedure as explained in the prospectus.

For the B.Arch course, applicants should have passed Plus Two examination with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate and at least 50 per cent marks in mathematics. In addition to this the applicants should have scored at least 40 per cent marks in NATA. Web site: www.nata.in.

Relaxation of marks in the qualifying examination will be allowed to SEBC applicants whose annual family income is up to Rs.4.5 lakh, and for SC/ ST and PH applicants.

How to apply

Only one application need be submitted to the entrance examinations for admission to one or more of medical, agriculture, veterinary, engineering and architecture courses.

Application form

The application form, OMR Data sheet and prospectus will be distributed up to February 14 through 160 select branches of post offices in Kerala and eight post offices outside the State on payment of Rs.700.

The fee is Rs.350 for applicants belonging to SC/ ST communities.

Applicants should ensure that the application number printed in the form, OMR data sheet and on the cover are the same.

Those who do not claim any reservation benefit and those belonging to non-Keralite category can apply online through the web site www.cee-kerala.org.

The filled-in application along with OMR data-sheet and other relevant documents should be submitted either by hand or registered post to the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Thiruvananthapuram, before 5 p.m. on February 14, 2011.

The detailed instruction for filling applications are given in the prospectus. Details about the colleges, courses and seats are also given in the prospectus.

Tentative date

The tentative date for declaration of medical entrance examination results is before May 25.

The engineering entrance results are likely to be published before June 25. Total seats available for the medical courses are as follows:

MBBS: 2150

BDS: 1080

BAMS: 740

BHMS: 250

BSMS: 50

B.Sc. agriculture: 209

B.V.Sc. & AH: 120

B.F.Sc.: 50

B.Sc. forestry: 30.

More than 30,000 seats are available in various branches of the B.Tech courses.

Course duration

MBBS, BHMS, BAMS courses:four and a half years plus 12 months of compulsory internship

BDS: Five years plus six months of internship

BSMS: Five years plus six months of internship

B.V.Sc. and AH and B.Arch courses: five years plus six months of internship B.Tech various branches: four years

Agriculture courses: 4 years

KERALA ENGINEERING / MEDICAL ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS, 2011

TO THE SPECIAL ATTENTION OF CANDIDATES APPLYING ONLINE

Last date of receipt of application is 5 pm on 14/02/2011
 

ONLINE APPLICATION is intended for Keralite candidates who do not claim any reservation benefit or those belonging to Non-Keralite category.

There is only a single application form for applying for the Entrance Examination for admission to all the courses (Medical, Engineering and Architecture). If a candidate submits more than one application his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled.

All candidates applying online should take a printout of the application after entering all details through the website. A photograph identical to the uploaded one shall be pasted in the appropriate box and should be got attested by a Gazetted Officer/ Head of Institution. The application process will be finished only on submission of the printout of the application to the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations. All requisite certificates to prove nativity and academic eligibility (course certificate) shall be completed properly. Candidates already completed their Higher Secondary or Equivalent course and applying for Engineering courses should attach copy of mark lists duly attested by a Gazetted Officer.They need not produce the course certificate separately. Candidates appearing for Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examinations will also be allowed provisionaly to appear for the Engineering Entrance Examination. They should produce attested copy of their mark list on or before 31-05-2011 for preparation of Engineering Rank list.Those candidates already completed their Higher Secondary or Equivalent course and applying for Medical courses can attach a self attested copy of the Higher Secondary or Equivalent mark list instead of Course Certificate to prove academic eligibility. Candidates appearing for Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examinations will also be allowed provisionaly to appear for the Medical Entrance Examination. They should prove their academic eligiblity at the time of admission. Candidates who wish to be considered for any kind of scholarship / fee waiver schemes to be announced later by the Government shall enclose income certificate obtained from the revenue authorities.

 

Printout of the application COMPLETE IN ALL RESPECTS should be submitted in the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on or before 5 PM on 14-02-2011.
Application fee, Rs.700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only) shall be remitted in any branch of State Bank of Travancore by means of Chalan provided in the printout of the application form (attach original chalan certified by the bank authorities along with the completed application) . Candidates who do not have access to State Bank of Travancore can attach a Demand Draft for Rs.700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only) drawn on a Nationalised Bank, in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram, as application fee.
 
Candidates opting DUBAI as the centre for the examination, should submit a Demand Draft for Rs.8500/- (Rupees Eight Thousand Five Hundred only) drawn on a Nationalised Bank, in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram as centre fee, in addition to the application fee of Rs.700/- as mentioned above.
 
 
Candidates applying for B.Arch. course only: should fill the application form and remit Rs.700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred Only) as application fee either through the chalan or as Demand Draft drawn on a Nationalised bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram and submit to the CEE on or before 14-02-2011, 5pm. There is no separate entrance examination for admission to B.Arch course. However, such candidates have to appear for the ‘National Aptitude Test in Architecture’ (NATA) conducted by the National Institute for Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA). Such candidates should also forward the copy of their NATA score card and copy of the mark list of the qualifying examination to the CEE so as to reach him on or before 31-05-2011 for preparation of the Architecture Rank List. (Candidates applying only for B.Arch. course need not remit the centre fee.)
