Scientists are claiming that Pomegranate’s are not just able to help prevent cancer, or is good for your heart, but now believe that by drinking this ‘superfood’ juice, that it will help prevent the middle-age spread. The power in the pomegranate juice is that it helps to reduce the fat stored in the stomach of both men and women. Volunteers who drank a bottle of pomegranate juice for one month, were found to be less likely to develop fatty cells around their abdomen, they were also found to have much lower blood pressure, which will reduce the risk of having heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease. The researchers from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, believe that the pomegranate may lower the amount of fatty acid in the blood known as, nonesterified fatty acid or NEFA. Studies in humans and animals show that high NEFA levels have links to a greater storage of fat around the abdomen, as well as an increased risk of heart disease and type II diabetes. The test also concluded that half of the volunteers had much lower NEFA levels by the end of the trial, which will make them less likely to store fat around their stomach.
