Director Hari has come out with a mass commercial entertainer, a police story after Saamy. Singam is Suriya's 25th film. The actor is aiming for a hat-trick after the successes of Ayan and Aadhavan. The movie has been produced by Studio Green and distributed by Sun Pictures.
Duraisingam (Suriya) is a sincere police officer in Nalloor village near Tuticorin. He wants to run his family business , a provision shop. But due to his father’s (Radha Ravi) wish he becomes a cop. He believes in compromising things rather than being violent. Kavya (Anushka), daughter of a real estate, is on a vacation to Nalloor village to meet her grandparents’. After few initial encounters they fall in love.
Myilvaganam ( Prakash Raj) is dreaded don, extortionist and kidnapper. He also runs a real estate mafia in Thiruvanmayur, Chennai. He blackmails top real estate tycoons to get lump sum amount from them. He is aided by his brother Vaikundan (Aadhi). In one such case, Myilvaganam gets arrested but he manages to get a conditional bail. The court orders him to appear at Nallur police station and sign everyday. Myilvaganam comes face to face with Singam, in which the latter insults the former.
Later Singam is promoted as Inspector and is transferred to Chennai where he comes face to face with Myilvaganam again. The cat and the mouse game begins between the both. What happens when these two meets? Watch out for Singam!
As usual Suriya has given a neat performance; he excels in all the aspects. And this time Suriya has tried out some gripping dance movement which is really a delight to watch and does it all for the sake of B and C centre audiences. Anushka has more scenes in this film and she actually does a good job in this film. Prakash Raj overrules Surya at many situations and they have tougher situations together at many portions. Vivek’s comedy tracks are really enjoyable .But It’s obvious that he has been coming up with similar shows from his previous films. Radha Ravi, Nasser and Manorama have played their roles well.
Devi Sri Prasad strikes with pleasing melodies as almost all the songs have been tuned out well. Especially, the numbers ‘Kadhal Vandhale’. Camera work is commendable.
Hari has successfully made another best commercial entertainer. It is an exciting movie for Suriya fans
