Mother's day
Mother's Day is a time of commemoration
and celebration for Mom. Mother's Day is celebrated all over the world since
1914. Love of mother is deeply implanted in the heart of every reasonable human
being. Love of mother is one of the sweetest characteristics of manhood, and
comes to us naturally, as it should, for mothers not only bring us into the
world, and suckle and tenderly care for us during infancy but they guide and
lead us during our more mature years and influence us for good during life. No
sacrifice is too great for them to make for the welfare of their offspring. Most countries including US, Australia, Canada and India celebrate Mothers Day on the second Sunday of May. Mothers Day came into being due to the efforts made by Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. The Resolution for having a dedicated Mother's Day was signed by US President Woodrow Wilson on May 8, 1914. Since then people across the world have been celebrating Mothers Day with joy and devotion
From Australia to Zimbabwe, more
than sixty countries celebrate Mother's Day together with
Americans on the second Sunday in May. In the United Kingdom,
Mothering Sunday is held on the forth Sunday of the Lenten
Season. March 8th marks the celebration of moms in most
countries of the Former Soviet Union, while the Arab world
honors mothers on the Vernal Equinox (March 21).
The selfless mother's love cannot be explained by anyone. Mother's day is dedicated to all the mothers of the world. It is the day to celebrate motherhood, the embodiment of affection and sacrifice. Mother's Day Story The story of Mothers Day is a long one. It is neither a recent phenomenon as many people believe it to be. Nor it is the creation of card and gift marketers syndicate as assumed by cynics of Mothers Day festival. To the surprise of lot many people Mothers Day celebrations are first said to have taken place in the time of ancient Greeks and Romans hundreds of years ago. Even Mothers Day celebrations in UK began much before the tradition saw the light of the day in US. In US the efforts of Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis are greatly recognised for starting the tradition of Mothers Day but several other women too made remarkable contribution to further the cause of Mothers Day holiday. Today Mothers Day is celebrated in more than 46 countries around the world though at different times in the month of May and in some countries it is celebrated in entirely different times of the year. In the present time Mothers Day has come to be internationally recognized as the day to honor all mothers and thank them for the services they impart for the benefit of their individual child and consequently to the development of mankind.
