A star in the making. Of all the heroes who debuted into movies this year ( 2011) in Mollywood, Unni Mukundan seems to be one who has very easily become the pet of all new filmmakers. Though his first two films in Malayalam 'Bangkok Summer' and 'Bombay March 12' didn't yield expected results in the Box office, the actor was noted for his meticulous performances. In fact he had a pucca negative role in 'Bangkok summer' which showcased the range of the young star. And suddenly he is all busy will many new projects. He wanted to be a filmmaker and started roaming cine circuits thinking he would be calling the shots one day. “But then I started getting offers to act. I was called for an audition in Chennai for ‘Seedan’ and got selected.” His first film was the Tamil remake of ‘Nandanam’ where he played the role handled by Prithviraj in the original. The film was directed by Subramaniam Shiva and released on 25 February 2011. Mukundan entered the Malayalam film industry through Bombay March 12, directed by Babu Janardhan. He played a notable role alongside Mammootty. The film was released on 30 June 2011. His third film was Malayalam movie Bangkok Summer, directed by Pramod Pappan.
