In 2011, Malayalam film industry surely gains some positives. It is not much from senior film professionals, but the arrival of new.comers contributes some achievements to Malayalam Cinema. Traffic, Salt N' Pepper, Chappa Kurishu, Aadaminte Makan Abu etc are some of the notable movies by the new talents. These films brought new trends and life to Malayalam films. However there has to face some drawbacks, that is the fight of film organizations continued in this year also. A good percentage of Malayalam movies released in 2011 were flop. The re-entry of director Priyadarshan gave rejoices to Malayalee audience; his new film acted by Mohanalal was released in December 16th and it is now running in theatres. •Traffic

Traffic is one of the successful movies of 2011. It was made by new faces and the film is treated with a new format. Traffic is directed by Rajesh Pillai and scripted by Bobby and Sanjay. Sreenivasan performed an important role in this movie. The film Traffic is based on a different theme which shows the importance of time in life. We have to face some crucial situations in our life, but the success is where when we have the courage to take the risk. Life leads everyone to those turning points. The movie Traffic was an experiment in Malayalam film industry and it became a blockbuster hit.
Cast: Sreenivasan, Kunjakko Boban, Asif Ali, Rahman, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Sandhya, Roma, Anoop Menon.

•Urumi

We saw Prithviraj's Urumi as a new innovation to Malayalam film industry. Prithviraj acted as well as he is one of the producers of Urumi. The film is directed by world famous cinematographer and director Santhosh Sivan. The script was by Shankar Ramakrishnan. Urumi's story is based on the history of Portuguese exploration on 1948 in Calicut. Urumi was a box office hit in Kerala as well as in Telugu.
The movie includes richness in its cast, performed by Prithviraj, Prabhudeva, Geneliya D'souza, Nithya Menon.

•Christian Brothers

The film is directed by the senior director Joshy. Christian Brothers is a multi star movie and was a hit in 2011. The story of the film was about the life of a retired captain of Indian Army named Palamattathu Varghese Mappila. This role was performed by Sai Kumar. The story follows with telling his children's life. The script of Christian Brothers was written by Udayakrishna – Sibi K. Thomas team. The movie was produced by A.V. Anoop and Maha Subair.
Cast: Mohanlal, Dileep, Sarath Kumar, Suresh Gopi, Lakshmi Rai, Kavya Madhavan, Kanika.

•Salt N' Pepper

Salt N' Pepper is a romantic comedy entertainer, which tells the love story of two couples. The movie is directed by Aashiq Abu and scripted by Shyam Pushkaran and Dileesh Nair. Salt N' Pepper is actually deals a very simple story, but the way of presentation is very interesting to see. The film was commercially super hit in Kerala. Also there is news that actor Prakash Raj bought the rights to remake Salt N' Pepper to Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Cast: Lal, Shwetha Menon, Asif Ali, Mythili, Baburaj.

•China Town

The movie China Town is like the usual trend of Rafi Mecartin team. The film produced by Anthony Perumbavoor is a comedy drama entertainer. The plot of the film is that three friends got separated and after 20 years their sons join together to complete an aim. China Town is a super hit movie acted by three super stars in Malayalam – Mohanlal, Jayaram and Dileep. Kavya Madhavan and Poonam Bajwa performed the female leads.

As a conclusion, Malayalam cinema should have to achieve far more in story – scripting and also in technical side. Hope that the coming 2012 will be a golden year for Malayalam cinema. Above not listed some recently released movies, may they will be also the super hits of 2011.
