By Satish Karat: A recent research has found that breakfast is the key to good health. It determines the quality of your whole day's nutrition.

A study conducted by Nutritionist, Sigrid Gibson, has recommends that the healthiest breakfast is cereal with milk because it is a good source of calcium and various other key nutrients, such as fibre, protein and carbohydrate.

To start the morning with a simple bowl of a healthy cereal is considered as the best way because it makes people less likely to turn to food containing sugar and fat through the rest of the day.

A research based on the interviews of people aged from 19 to 64 has shown that one in five adults ate no solid food for breakfast, one third chose cereal and 45% of the people eat a non-cereal breakfast.

The most popular item for breakfast was found to be tea or coffee and is consumed on 84% of breakfast occasions.
The healthiest choice for breakfast is said to be milk which is consumed with 82% of the breakfast. Women are less likely to choose bread, sausage, bacon or eggs as compared to men because they prefer heating fruits.

The study found that eating breakfast was associated with a lower fat and higher carbohydrate intake. But it is mainly associated with cereal-based breakfasts as the intake of non-cereal meals would result in higher intake of saturated fatty acid and lower protein intakes.
