With the latest research the axiom of "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"
is definitely getting its assurance.
In a research done by the Chinese University of Hong Kong it has been
confirmed that if a person consumes an apple everyday it can increase his
lifespan. They established that the copious antioxidants present in an apple can
increase a person's life by 10%.
There are certain free radicals in the human body that are responsible for the
process of ageing. These free radicals are detrimental substances produced by
our body. They are also responsible for certain diseases caused in the human
body. The antioxidants present in an apple can successfully control the damage
caused by these free radicals. There are other fruits and vegetables like the
brightly colored tomatoes, broccoli and blueberries that can provide
antioxidants to a human body but the apple is considered the best option.
The antioxidants available in an apple are called polyphenols. The study has
confirmed that polyphenols not only help in increasing the lifespan of a person
but it also helps in conserving the energy to move, walk and climb. The
antioxidants also help a person to fight colon cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
