Electricity bill payment is just a
mouse-click away for consumers in Thiruvananthapuram district, which is
on its way to being declared the first district to fully enable the
Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB)’s online payment gateway.
Making queues a redundant concept, bill
payment for consumers of the KSEB under all 73 electrical sections in
the KSEB’s urban and rural circles in the district is now just a
mouse-click away. The facility is now available in Thiruvananthapuram,
Attingal, Neyyatinkara, Nedumangad and Kazhakootam electrical divisions.
LT consumers can access the gateway via
www.kseb.in, the official website of the state-run power utility, to pay
their bills. Details like electrical section, consumer number and bill
number and personal details such as e-mail or mobile number have to be
furnished.
According to the website, the payment
can be made using net banking or credit/debit cards.
The KSEB has approximately nine lakh
consumers in the district. The facility will be extended across the
state in a phased manner in the months ahead, according to KSEB
officials.
Over the past several months, the KSEB
had been conducting trials at the Puthenchantha and Vellayambalam
section offices before extending it to all city sections. Trials were
started in Puthenchantha in February 2012 and in Vellayambalam, in July.
Now, the facility can be accessed by
consumers under the other electrical divisions also.
The KSEB has used a modified version of
‘Oruma,’ the software developed in-house by its own engineers, to launch
the facility. ‘’The orders were issued on Saturday evening.
The facility is in place now and the
idea is to extend it across the state in a phased manner,’’ KSEB chief
engineer, Distribution (South) Dasappan A S, said.
