Sea Taxi service
launched in Muscat
|
By A Staff Reporter -MUSCAT — For the first time
in Oman, Muriya Tourism Development Company, has established a new Sea Taxi
Service that will be operational between Marina Bandar al Rowdha and the Jebel
Sifah Marina, with three round trips on weekends and on weekdays.
Initiated in collaboration with Jassa Beach Sea Tourism Company, the Sea Taxi
service will open up new opportunities of travel for residents as well as
visitors to Jebel Sifah, Muriya’s premium holiday destination. Passengers can
look forward to a novel taxi experience that will take them on a scenic trip,
alongside the beautiful coast, with the added possibilities of dolphin watching
— an attraction on this route.
“This is an ideal package for families with
children; there is an element of picnic woven into the ride that will pass
through the picture perfect locale of the area. It not only provides an
alternate option for car trip, but also ensures a ride that is complete with
elements of fun and freshness. The service presents numerous options for those
seeking a relaxed outing with a picnic by the beach,” said Bahaa Kareem,
Marketing Director of Muriya, explaining about the new service and the
opportunities it presents.
Up to 20 passengers can be accommodated in the Sea Taxi, which will, on an
average, take about 45 minutes to reach the destination. It will operate three
round trips during weekends and at convenient timings on other days, especially
for people who prefer to spend a day with lunch and dinner at Jebel Sifah.
Equipped with on board safety measures and manned by experienced personnel, the
new service promises an exciting option, especially for families and larger
groups.
The present schedule of trips from Bandar Al Rowdha to Jebel Sifah on Thursdays
and Fridays is 11 am, 5 pm and 7 pm, with two trips — at 5 pm and 7 pm — on
Wednesdays and Saturdays. The return trip from Jebel Sifah to Bandar al Rowdha
is scheduled for 4 pm, 6 pm and 10.30 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, while on
Wednesdays and Saturdays it is at 6 pm and 10.30 pm.
The Sea Taxi is also expected to cater to tourists, encouraging day-long
excursions with dining options. Guests of the newly opened Sifawy Boutique Hotel
could also avail the service, enjoying the alternative of making a grand
entrance at the hotel, via sea route. Further, the lineup of authentic regional
and international dining experiences and exciting water sports offered at Sifawy
could be a bigger draw for visitors, following the new travel option.
“Our objective is to provide an alternative choice for our guests, more so for
those who prefer to relax and unwind in the serene ambience of Jebel Sifah
without having to worry about the drive to and from the city. We hope it will
infuse an unhurried pace within our facilities at Jebel Sifah; we want our
guests and visitors to experience a pampered lifestyle and savour the bounties
of nature as well as the facilities provided at Sifawy Boutique Hotel and As
Sammak restaurant,” said Rana Abu Dargham, Senior Commercial Lease of Muriya.

passengers observe through large underwater windows. The whole experience is
like diving but without getting wet. Passengers sit a climate controlled cabin
about 2 meters below the waterline in complete safety. On completion, passengers
return to the marina aboard the fast transfer boat, the whole experience taking
about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
