History was re-written in the Sultanate
yesterday and an international trade mark was also brought into the country.
Guinness World Records, an international record registering organisation, had a
representative who officially announced that Oman has made the biggest football
in the world.
This unique idea was that of Golden Hornet LLC, a local event management company
which believes that creativity has no limits. The event, mainly supported by
Suhail Bahwan Group, has taken Oman to another level in the sports world. The
soccer ball (football), which is about 10 metres in diameter and weighing about
750 kg, was placed at LuLu Hypermarket Bausher.
The event was inaugurated under the auspices of His Highness Syed Faisal bin
Turki al Said. The World's Largest Soccer Ball event also was attended by a
number of royal family members, ministers and government officials. The event
also had heads of various businesses in the Sultanate.
As part of the inaugural event, Amal Bahwan, Director, Suhail Bahwan Group,
received the certificate from Michael, representative of Guinness Book of World
Records. The certificate stated, 'World's Largest Soccer Ball made of artificial
leather by Golden Hornet, Oman, and supported by Suhail Bahwan Group at LuLu
Hypermarket Baushar on the 2nd of December 2012.' The ball will remain open for
general public between 6pm to10pm till December 8. Later, the ball will be taken
by Oman Football Association to be placed at their premises till June 2013, as a
monomer reminding the nation that the Sultanate made it into Guinness Book of
World Records.
Golden Hornet, one of the leading event management companies in the Sultanate
came with this idea as a support to the national team on the occasion of 42nd
National Day of the Sultanate.
Zuhair al Balushi, Managing Director of Golden Hornet, has said: "At last, our
dream has come true, we brought Oman into an international record recognising
book in relevance to sports. We are proud of this achievement and we thank our
sponsors for their support, especially to Suhail Bahwan Group for their trust in
our idea and the youth of Oman. We would like to also take this opportunity to
thank His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on the occasion of 42nd National Day.'
The event has been supported by various organisations in the Sultanate, be it
government or private. Oman Football Association was one of the first to support
this event, along with Muscat Municipality. Later, the ball was supported by the
National Wings of the Sultanate, Oman Air, to help the event fly high in the
air.
Muscat Pharmacy and Stores is energising the event through its brands, Pocari
and Brut. Shell Oman is fuelling the event and the ball with its faith to make
sure the ball remains as a monomer that every individual in the Sultanate would
be proud of.
LuLu Hypermarket extended its support to the event by allowing the ball to be
present on the premises for a period of seven days.
Majan Electricity, National Gas Company and Rabooa Qarna are among the
supporters of this national event.
As for the social responsibility aspect of the event, so 'Safety First', a
non-profit organisation that works towards creating awareness of general public
towards safe driving is one of the supporters of the event. They will be
displaying movies talking about road safety
