The ICC World Twenty20 is the
international Cricket championship organised by cricket's governing body, the
International Cricket Council (ICC) .It was started in the year 2007 and was
first staged in South Africa from 11–24 September 2007. The tournament was won
by India, who became the first World T20 Champions after defeating Pakistan by 5
runs in the final at Johannesburg. The tournament consists of 12 teams,
comprising all ten ICC full members and two other ICC members chosen through the
ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier.
The International Cricket Council's executive
committee votes for the hosts of the tournament after examining bids from the
nations which have expressed an interest in holding the event. Sri Lanka is
hosting 2012. Bangladesh will host the 2014 tournament. India will host the 2016
