A lot has been happening regarding the IIT
entrance examination and finally a solution has been reached by the authorities.
So now, a new format of IIT examination will take place for aspiring students.
But how much do you know about his new format? If you don't then here are few
important features of the examination that should help you get a clear idea of
how it is going to be.
There are two exams for Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE)- JEE 'Main' and JEE
'Advanced'. The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is equivalent
to the 'Main' exam and the IIT-JEE is equivalent to the JEE 'Advanced'. A
suitable time gap would be arranged between both exams and the exact period
would be revealed soon. The top 150000 candidates (including all categories)
from the JEE 'Main' are considered qualified.
They can then appear for JEE 'advanced' examinations. The admissions to the IITs
would be happening based on the ranks obtained in the 'advanced' examination.
But it is only for students who are among the top 20% scorers percentage in
their respective board who would be considered eligible for admission to the
IITs. The 'Advanced' exam would be conducted by the IITs just like the IIT-JEEs.
This would be done by a Joint Admission Board (JAB) and a Joint Implementation
Committee of the IITs. The JEE 'Main' is conducted by the Central Board of
Secondary Education (CBSE) and they will be coordinating with the IITs. All this
would be implemented from 2013 onwards. However, the admission to National
Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Information Technology
(IIITs) will be happening through scores of IIT 'Main' exam. Few other details
would be revealed soon.
