CBSE-i stands for CBSE International. It's a new
global curriculum offered by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
headquartered in Delhi, India. The board aims to promote critical and creative
thinking skills, effective communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative
skills and information and media skills.
Initially in the academic year 2010-2011, the
curriculum was implemented in about 25 schools in middle-east and South-Asia (UAE,
Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan) as a pilot project for
classes I and IX. The Board then reviewed and extended it to other schools
abroad in the second phase and to select Indian schools in the next phase.
CBSE-i Curriculum
The curriculum provides opportunity for extended
learning and help develop perspectives, with emphasis on research orientation
and social empowerment. It also aims to promote critical and creative thinking
skills, effective communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills
and information and media skills.
It provides, inter-alia, flexibility in social
science and languages. Other features include perspectives on building opinions,
critical thinking module, life skill, research project and community
service. The new curriculum will help students to compete better at
international level.

- The ministry has proposed that the annual
course registration fee will be Rs1.5 lakh.
- The entire course will be totally online.
- The entire curriculum will be taught
through e-books, will include more foreign languages and different syllabi
for other subjects.
- Beneficial for students who want to pursue
their higher education abroad.
